Christopher Theofanidis: Drum Circles

Holst: The Planets

The Planets align with NASA images on the big screen for Holst’s supersonic trip through the galaxy. It’s been an inspiration since it premiered in 1918 – including to composer John Williams for the Imperial March for Star Wars. Also on the program is the Percussion Collective, a stunning collection of young artists who are reinventing the concert experience. They join forces with TFO for Christopher Theofanidis’ Drum Circles.

Bonus! For every Masterworks concert, Michael Francis has personally chosen a surprise “mystery piece” to enhance the live experience. What will it be this weekend?

PRE-CONCERT CONVERSATIONS: Get the real story behind the composers and their music, straight from the conductor and guest soloists. Starts one hour before each Masterworks concert in the theater. Included free with each concert ticket.
