Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2

Vaughan Williams: Symphony No. 1 (A Sea Symphony)

More than 125 years since its first performance, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 keeps its spot at the top of the charts, beloved by concert halls and Hollywood alike. At the keyboard will be Indonesian-born pianist Janice Carissa in her TFO debut. Michael Francis conducts the sweeping journey through heartache and unshakable beauty that will leave audiences breathless. It complements Vaughan Williams’ boundless Symphony No. 1, A Sea Symphony, for soprano, baritone, chorus and orchestra. This groundbreaking work fuses the splendor of the symphonic tradition with the evocative poetry of Walt Whitman.

Free Pre-Concert Conversations: Start 1 hour before the performance in the concert hall. Sponsored by The Ruth & J O Stone Foundation.
