Mozart & Handel

Sunday, November 23 at 2pm

Jeannette Sorrell, conductor

Handel: Water Music Suites

Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro Overture

Haydn: Overture to The Uninhabited Island

Mozart: Ballet Music from Idomeneo

Baroque and classical-period music is best performed lean and intimate, and you’ll get just that when internationally recognized Baroque specialist Jeannette Sorrell leads a program of 18th-century delights. Founder of the Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra, Sorrell opens with Handel’s effervescent suites from the Water Music, balanced by Mozart’s Overture to Marriage of Figaro. Haydn’s storm-and-stress Overture to The Uninhabited Island follows before the concert wraps up with Mozart’s percolating ballet music from Idomeneo.

Free Pre-Concert Conversations: Start 1 hour before the performance in the concert hall. Sponsored by The Ruth & J O Stone Foundation.
